Turn on And Tune In

Think About It:

"Turn on and Tune in"

Do you remember transistor radios? Some people still own them. These days, people listen to the radio in their vehicles, if at all anymore. I'm old enough to remember being "raised on radio".  I remember as a kid when I got my first (and probably only) transistor radio one Christmas.  In those days, radios had one external speaker, or if you prefer, one earphone that you could place in the ear of your choosing.

The use of transistor radios has declined over time.  Now there are other ways to listen to AM or FM  (AM radio...what is that?...well it was a thing at one time). Radio waves still exist, of course, and we are quite dependent upon them.  There are variations of waves: microwave, Bluetooth, etc. But the principle is the same: frequency. Sound waves operate on various frequencies. There is a sender of the waves and a receiver. For those old transistor radio listeners...you had to turn the radio on and tune it in.

The Bible is much like that in our lives. In both the Old and New Testaments, the Lord spoke audibly at times to people. They couldn't miss it.  They were "turned on and tuned in" to the right frequency to hear and listen. The Lord speaks today through His word, the Bible.  Jesus said, "He that is of God heareth God's words..." John 8:47.  That is how we know what He is saying.

Turn on and tune in. Receive what the Lord says to you. Mark 4:20 says, “And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.”

Tune in...don't be like those described in Jeremiah 6:10: “To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? Behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of the Lord is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.”

God's word will accomplish God's will when we receive it. Isaiah 55:11 says, “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”

Turn on and tune in!
